Goddess and Swift

On my return of NYC I interned with Goddess and Swift a Belfast based brand from March until the end of May.  Larissa Watson the chief designer and my mentor has over twenty years experience in textile design and development so it was good to work with someone with such a wealth of experience and expertise.  Goddess and Swift is Larissa’s brand name and her team designs and produces quality clothing that is both classical and creative with timeless appeal evident in statement prints and elegant lines.  Larissa is currently working on her third season, and launching a new M/W range.  On my internship I was initially working mainly on PR and press work.  I then assisted with the Photo shoot for A/W 12/13 Look book, styling and dressing the models.  I also assisted production and pattern cutting garments for the El Divino Fashion ‘Walking  on Water’ event El Divino ‘Walking on Water’ event boasted a 150 foot floating catwalk stretching into the middle of the lagan, the first ever show to be held on the river lagan.  The after party featured Henry Holland World renowned DJ and fashion designer, House of Holland. It was indeed an awesome experience.  Here are a few of Goddess and Swift's key looks for A/W 12.          http://www.goddessandswift.com/

New York New York

Apologies to all on the neglect ion of my blog.  I have been thoroughly busy and haven’t had time to update my blog. On completion of my previous internship I went to New York for a few days to visit my sister, and to burn a rather large hole in my bank account.............  On my travels I went to Times Square, Empire State Building, Central Park and Ellis Island visiting Statue of Liberty.  I fully embraced New York lifestyle with all you can drink champagne brunches and cocktails at any hour in the day in the city that never sleeps.

Georgia Hardinge

I recently interned for Georgia Hardinge leading up to London Fashion Week.  Georgia Hardinge presented Inverted on Friday 17th February 2012 at Freemason's Hall with Fashion Scout.  Her passion for architecture and sculpture shines through her ‘Inverted’ collection influenced by the iconic inside out artist Rachel Whiteread.  The colour palette for AW was very rich with bright pops of cobalt blue, dusty burgundy and mustard yellow.  The piece de resistance was the finale show piece dress with a paneled box shape dress creating an arch at the hips to show the printed dress underneath with godets of print and burgundy.

Final Collection Additional Photo Shoot

In addition to my two previous photo shoots, I decided to do a third photo shoot to get more individual and detailed shots of my garments, and was hoping the create a look book.  At this point my tutors were calling me ‘Marie- Claire’ as I was having photo shoots on a weekly basis, in mist of final stages of making my final collection.  My fashion college the gorgeous Anisha Patel kindly modelled for me, with Kiri behind the lens again.

Final Collection Photo Shoot

I collaborated my photo shoot with my fabulous friend Kiri Nicholetts who was in her final year of photography also luckily had the same theme as me, ‘Baroque and Rococo’.  Brain storming and swapping ideas for photo shoot set a theme as ‘heaven and hell’ theme so having two separate photo shoots to represent both themes inspired by Baroque and Rococo styles.  Kiri built both sets in photography studio.  My friend from home Emma-Jane Corbett currently studying make up and prosthetics was on hand to do hair and make up, with help from her friend Jennifer Newell on the first shoot.
